An entire day of activities at the Iron Men's Health Fair are set for Saturday, Sept. 21, to promote prostate cancer awareness.
While the topic may sound unexciting, the activities include a 5K run/walk, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Zumba classes, lectures and screenings.
The day is sponsored by the Next Level Community Development Center and will be located at Central City Park in Macon.
Women and children are encouraged to join men in the events.
Registration for the 5K run/walk will be $20 in advance for runners, $15 for senior (60+) runners and $25 on the day of the race. The run starts at 8 am. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third-place finishers with t-shirts to all participants along with a race package.
Registration for the 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be $75 per team with a four player maximum per team. Basketball starts at 9 am.
Besides the sporting events, free screenings will be offered for PSA, cholesterol, glucose (diabetes), hypertension, body mass index (BMI), vision and HIV.
Guest lectures will educate on various health topics, such as erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, nutrition, wellness and weight loss. Health professionals will be on hand for follow-ups.
