A Milledgeville teenager drowns over the weekend at a Georgia College and State University swimming pool.

Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzales tells WGXA, 14-year old Tyrique Jackson was pulled from the Centennial Center swimming pool late Saturday.  Gonzales says Jackson apparently fell into the pool after attempting to get a tennis ball.    The teen was pronounced dead at the Oconee Regional Medical Center at 8:54 p.m.

Gonzales says the body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab and is scheduled for an autopsy on Tuesday.  Jackson was a student at Baldwin High School.

Brittiny Johnson, Manager of Media Relations at Georgia College and State University says, the college community is deeply saddened by the passing of the young man.  Our heartfelt sympathies are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Johnson says Georgia College’s leadership team is assisting local law enforcement as the investigation continues.  Georgia College has also been in contact with the Baldwin County School District regarding the death.
