Missouri adds top-50 national recruit

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Missouri signed 6-foot-8 forward Jakeenan (Jah-KEY-nun) Gant of Springfield, Ga., ranked among the top 50 recruits in the nation by several services, to a national letter of intent. Gant averaged 17.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and nearly four blocked shots as a junior at Effingham County High, leading the school to the Class 5A state semifinals. He was the state player of the year in his class. Freshman Johnathan Williams III was a top-50 recruit for the Tigers last fall and has started the first two games this season. The 6-foot-9 Williams, from Southwind High in Memphis, Tenn., is averaging 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.
