STOCKHOLM (AP) — Visiting Stockholm, President Barack Obama has paid tribute to Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who risked his life during the Holocaust to save at least 20,000 Jews in Hungary. Obama said Wallenberg is a reminder of the power of not just bearing witness, but acting. His words came at the time Obama is calling on Congress and the international community to take action against the Syrian regime for its use of chemical weapons against civilians. HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The former Army intelligence analyst who's serving a 35-year sentence for sending reams of classified information to WikiLeaks is asking for a presidential pardon. Private Chelsea Manning -- the name now used by Bradley Manning -- says the leak was done out of a love for the United States and a "sense of duty to others." Manning's lawyer sent the request to President Barack Obama through the Justice Department, and to the secretary of the Army. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Former President Clinton has called on enemies of the Affordable Care Act to stop fighting the law. Clinton says the law will provide higher quality health care and lower the rate of medical cost increases. His pitch, made in Arkansas, comes just before the scheduled Oct. 1 launch of online health insurance markets in the states. BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — State prosecutors say a 30-day sentence given a former teacher for the rape of a 14-year-old was "illegal." They've filed an appeal and contend a minimum 2-year sentence is mandated under Montana law. The sentencing judge has been widely condemned for saying that the victim, who committed suicide, was "older than her chronological age." SPRING, Texas (AP) — A fight at a Houston-area high school has left one student dead and three others injured. It happened at Spring High School. Officials say the victims were attacked with a knife after a fight broke out in a corridor. School district officials have canceled classes at the school for the rest of the week.
