WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he's decided the U.S. should take military action against Syria in response to a deadly chemical weapons attack the U.S. says President Bashar Assad's regime carried out against Syrian civilians. Speaking from the Rose Garden, Obama also says he will seek congressional approval for action against Syria. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The top U.N. spokesman is rejecting suggestions that the departure of the U.N. chemical weapons inspection team from Syria opens a window for a U.S. attack, calling the notion "grotesque." The spokesman says some 1,000 international and U.N. staff remain in Syria, and the United Nations is just as concerned about their welfare as it is about its team of inspectors. He also says the Syrian population would be vulnerable to harm. CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's government has again shortened an evening curfew as violence and protests over the coup that toppled the country's president subside. The Cabinet says the decision comes in response to popular demand. It rolls back the start of the curfew to 11 p.m. local time. However, the full 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew will remain in place for Fridays, when supporters of the ousted President Mohammed Morsi usually try to organize large rallies. YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Smoke from the wildfire in and around Yosemite National Park is hampering suppression efforts. The U.S. Forest Service says firefighting aircraft have been grounded because of low visibility caused by the smoke. The dense blanket of smoke also is obscuring views of the park's popular landmarks. The fire has burned 343 square miles. UNDATED (AP) — A couple of big name quarterbacks have failed to hook on with new teams. Vince Young was trying to earn the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. On Twitter, Young is thanking the Packers for giving him an opportunity and wishing the team well this season. Meanwhile, a person familiar with the situation says the New England Patriots have cut Tim Tebow.
