The ripple effect of the government reopening could even be felt right here in Macon.
The Ocmulgee Indian Mounds were in full swing by 10am Thursday morning after more than 2 weeks of being shut down.
Jim David with the indian mounds says he and other employees felt bad about having to call and cancel school field trips, but a break from work wasn't a total loss.
"At least until sometime in January if they don't settle things again. But were back opening 7 days a week 9 to 5. Hopefully in the future the only day that were closing are the usual days of Christmas and New Year and hopefully no other time."
