A large Macon employer literally rose from the ashes today to open once again.
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, the greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Commission were all on hand today to celebrate the grand reopening of the Pactiv Egg Carton Plant.
Back in 2013 the plant caught fire and burned completely up. Weeks later the fire was ruled accidental and caused by spontaneous combustion. Pat Topping with the Macon Economic Development Commission says there was one very special reason the company decided to rebuild rather than move somewhere else.
The cost of the damage was estimated at roughly 3 million dollars.
