Baseball legend Pete Rose was in Macon Tuesday night to greet fans and give Mercer baseball a boost.
More than 500 people bought tickets to meet Rose and hear him speak at a dinner as part of the annual First Pitch Classic. The event is a fundraiser for Mercer's baseball team, which begins play on February 14th.
For 75 dollars fans got a chance to meet Rose and get his signature. 100 dollars bought dinner and a chance to hear Rose speak.

Rose played ball in Macon back in 1962 for the Old Macon Peaches.
Mercer's baseball team is picked to win its conference coming off an appearance in the ncaa post season tournament.
