CHICAGO (AP) — Police in Chicago have surrounded a vehicle on the city's Lake Shore Drive after a chase that officials say involves a Georgia man wanted for murder.
Harvey Police Department spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado tells WMAQ-TV the Sunday chase was the result of an investigation involving Harvey police and police in Henry County, Georgia. She says Illinois State Police and other agencies were involved in the chase that ended in a crash on the heavily traveled roadway along Lake Michigan. Alvarado says the man is wanted in connection with a murder in Hampton, Ga.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports police surrounding the vehicle were armed. Officers were speaking to the man through a loudspeaker, asking him to "put your hands up." Chicago police have diverted traffic, joggers and cyclists from the area.
