The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a reward for any information regarding a man who went missing nearly two years ago.

Sheriff Darren Mitchum announced Friday a $1,000 reward through the Macon Regional Crimestoppers to any tip that leads to 49-year-old Troy Burnette.

"Somebody out there knows what happened to Troy and if somebody knows what happened to Troy then somebody else knows what happened to Troy," Sheriff Mitchum said

The Twiggs County man was last seen on Dec. 29, 2011 walking east on highway 80 towards Dublin around 6 p.m.

After nearly two years of searching, the case is relatively cold.

"We've run out of a few leads that my investigators have been working on,” Mitchum said. “We don't have anything at this time that you can hang your hat on so to speak."

This is devastating news to Burnette’s family who is looking for closure but hopes the monetary reward will help heat up the case.

“It's wearing on the family and we need some closure here, we need some closure," Burnette’s aunt,
Robbi Rouse said.

If you have any information about Troy Burnette whereabouts, you’re encouraged to call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at  1-877-68 crime. You can give those tips anonymously.
