People in downtown Macon celebrated Valentine's Day with some salsa dancing.

Local college hangout "The Wall" was packed Friday night as the Mercer Hispanic Law Students Association put on salsa dancing performances and instruction.

The event was a big hit drawing more people than expected. Event organizers say they want to expose people in Middle Georgia to the hispanic culture and hope to make it an annual event.

"If you don't dance you're able to drink, so we're hoping that people who participate get to learn. We're teaching the three main steps of salsa, it's the step back step forward, the turn, then the cross body, it's the basics," said Hispanic Law Students Association Social Chair Jade Valdes.

The event was free. Organizers put on three performances and taught indivduals and couples based on experience.
