HRABOVE, Ukraine (AP) — Armed separatists have been limiting the access of international monitors to the Malaysia Airlines crash site in eastern Ukraine, raising concerns that evidence showing who brought the plane down and killed the 298 people onboard will be lost, tampered with or destroyed. The State Department says the monitors were allowed only 75 minutes at the site Friday and less than three hours Saturday.

HRABOVE, Ukraine (AP) — Most of the remains of the nearly 300 people killed in the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight 17 in eastern Ukraine remain strewn across the debris field. The treatment of those remains is provoking outrage and distress, particularly in the Netherlands. More than half of the victims were Dutch, and Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans says people in his country are "furious" at accounts of rebels picking through victims belongings and the bodies "being dragged around."

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israel says it's widened its ground offensive, sending more troops into Gaza after demolishing more than a dozen Hamas tunnels and intensifying tank fire on border areas. Since the start of fighting almost two weeks ago, Gaza health officials say 348 Palestinians have been killed and 2,700 wounded in Israeli air and artillery strikes. Five Israelis — three soldiers and two civilians — have also been killed and dozens wounded as rockets continue to rain down on Israel.

WINTHROP, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters from New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming are heading to Washington state to help crews there battle about 50 wildfires. The biggest has burned early 340 square miles in the scenic Methow (MET'-how) Valley, destroying 100 homes and forcing people living between Carlton and Pateros to flee.

FRESNO, California (AP) — Police in Stockton, California, are searching for an accomplice in the bank robbery that led to a police chase and deadly shootout on Wednesday. One hostage and two robbers were killed in the incident. Investigators says they suspect the same men carried out other area bank heists, including one earlier this year at the same branch that was hit this week.
