IRWINVILLE, Ga. (AP) — The park marking the spot where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was captured by Union forces at the end of the Civil War may close.

WALB-TV (http://bit.ly/1d2ANJS ) reports the 13-acre site in Irwinville is not generating the revenue it needs to stay open.

It costs roughly $50,000 a year to keep the park open. However, it's only raising about $10,000 annually.

Davis was captured by Union cavalry in May 1865 as he headed west in an attempt to unite what remained of the collapsing Confederacy's military forces. Davis was taken prisoner, though he was ultimately released several years later.

A meeting will be held Tuesday to discuss ways the park could be kept open.
