"We want you to share with the board your ideas for the qualifications of the next superintendent."
Representatives of the Georgia School Board Association or GSBA joined the Bibb Board of Education for a special listening session at Central High School to hear the public's input on what qualifications they want in the next superintendent.
The District has been without a permanent Superintendent since the resignation of Romain Dallemand. Former Central High School Principal Steve Smith is serving as interim superintendent.
As the listening session progressed, many concerned parents voiced their opinions to the board.
"The one thing I would like to see is someone that is here for a long time." -Charles Crowse
"Someone to give us the structure that I think is needed for our schools." -Olivia Sharp
"I think a thorough background check is a good idea and we need to know what goes on with people that hop and jump and skip around, that's a good idea." -William Brockman
"Somebody who is revolutionary. Somebody who has proven to work for the safety of our children." -Daisy Ross
The GSBA will take this input along with input from board members and perform a nationwide search before presenting the finalists to the board who will take over the decision making process from there.
