A Houston County murder trial nearly 3 decades in the making ended Thursday with not guilty verdicts on all counts.

The jury found 51 year old Timothy Johnson not guilty today in the murder of Taressa Stanley.

Stanley was killed during a botched convenience store robbery in Warner Robins back in 1984

Johnson originally took a deal and pleaded guilty to avoid a possible death penalty but successully appealed, claiming he didn't understand his right not to incriminate himself.

The case went to trial Monday in Houston County Superior Court.

The jury found him not guilty just before 3 Thursday afternoon.
