An Alabama woman and a Florida man are behind bars in Crisp County facing over forty criminal charges linked to a multi-state crime spree.

Sergeant Ben Bray of the Crisp County Sheriff's Office tells WGXA, Tonia Gay of Hayneville, Alabama, is charged with Speeding, 28 counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, 16 counts of Financial Identity Fraud and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime.

Also charged is Jessie Joseph of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Joseph is charged with 28 counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft, 16 counts of Financial Identity Fraud and Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime.

Bray says the pair, driving a rented Nissan Maxima, was pulled over by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team, for speeding on Interstate-75.  Deputies searching the vehicle discovered numerous drivers licenses, credit cards, debit cards and social security cards.

The sixteen victims from Georgia, Florida, Colorado and Missouri all had their vehicles broken into and their personal items stolen from gym parking lots.

The case remains under investigation by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.
