Workers at the Reise Chiropractic and Sports Center on Mercer University Drive got quite a surprise when they arrived to work early in the morning.
Three-year old Nathan Ward was only wearing a t-shirt and a diaper when he was discovered at 8:30a.m. wandering in the facility's parking lot with no parent present.
Nicole Deloach, an assistant at the office, says the toddler was right in the spot where she parks her car every morning, and as a parent herself, she's concerned.
"it's upsetting because I do have a young child myself, isn't the parents paying closer attention to their children," Deloach said.
Rhonda Carby, the office manager, called the sheriff's office immediately.
"To see a child just in our parking lot, three years old, soaking wet diaper and a blanket and a shirt and really we don't even know where he came from," Carby said.
Although the toddler showed no signs of injury upon discovery, there are still some questions to be answered.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating and say the mother 32-year old Jessica Ward, a resident at the Pinewood Park Apartments, was at home and asleep when her son unlocked the door and walked out.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation and the mother will be meeting with the Division of Family and Child Services.
