ATLANTA (AP) - Attorney General Sam Olens says Georgia's lawyers have donated the equivalent of more than 840,000 pounds of food to the state's seven regional food banks during a food drive competition.
The second annual Legal Food Frenzy brought in 38 percent more than last year. A total of 249 law firms and legal organizations competed in the contest, which ran from April 22 thorugh May 3.
Solo-practitioner Walter G. "Bo" Sammons Jr, of Sammons & Sammons in Warner Robins won the grand prize with 9,218 pounds, the most per capital statewide.
Mercer University law students took home the Attorney General's Law School Cup for the second year in a row, more than doubling their total from last year by raising 8,697 pounds of food or 22 pounds per capital.
