In April, 1982 WGXA Television signed on in Macon, Georgia. The station was purchased in July of 1995 by GOCOM Communications, who then switched network affiliation in January of 1996 from ABC to FOX.

By May of 1997 WGXA was awarded FOX Network's #1 Club for Fastest Growing News in the Country. We have received the #1 Club award several times for being rated #1 in Primetime for Adults 18-49.

January 1st, 2010, under the ownership of Frontier Broadcasting, WGXA signed on a second channel, ABC 16 on our digital subcarrier. We began to offer Middle Georgia both FOX and ABC network affiliates out of one location.

In September 2014, WGXA-TV ABC16 & FOX24 were purchased by the largest broadcast/digital group in the country, Sinclair Broadcasting Group. With the power of two major network affiliates, plus the strength of Sinclair Digital, we can reach people like never before.

We strive to provide quality programming for the middle Georgia community that is engaging, fresh, and has wide appeal. We offer a total of 36 hours a week of local news, so no matter what time you need your news, WGXA News is working for you.
